On Friday, 06 October 2017, there will be double the excitement when Blade Runner 2049 launches at Ster-Kinekor sites nationwide in IMAX and 3D as well the romantic comedy, The Big Sick, which will release at selected cinemas. Friday the 13th, you’ll put all your superstitions aside and celebrate a double launch instead. The action disaster film Geostorm and the thriller, The Snowman launches with the exclusive pre-screenings at Cine Prestige cinemas on the 12th of October at 20:00 at all the Ster-Kinekor sites. The experience will be first class experience with a complementary vodka slush as a welcome drink. Thor Ragnarök follows on Thursday, 19 October 2017 and will release at IMAX and Ster-Kinekor sites nationwide.
BLADE RUNNER 2049 in IMAX and 3D

After his discovery, he sets out to find Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.

THE BIG SICK
The Big Sick is a romantic comedy that revolves around the life of an inter-racial couple. Kumail Nanjiani, who plays himself and his girlfriend Emily (Zoe Kazan as Emily Gardner, based on Emily V. Gordon). The story is loosely based on the real-life romance between Nanjiani and Gordon. Kumail knows that his traditional Muslim family will not accept Emily because of their cultural differences, when he agrees to an arranged marriage, Emily breaks up with him. She is subsequently struck by life-threatening illness. Join Kumail as he discovers the meaning of love and true sacrifice.
The film had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on 20 January 2017. It received positive reviews, becoming one of the most critically acclaimed films of 2017. Definitely not to be missed, if you’re a hopeless romantic who enjoys a bit of a giggle in the mix.

GEOSTORM
This disaster science-fiction action film will have you on the edge of your seat. The plot is intense. When climate-controlling satellites are believed to have malfunctioned and released disaster-creating small pods all over the world, Jake Lawson (Gerard Butler) and fellow astronauts head into space to prevent the satellites from programming the small pods into creating a destructive storm. They soon discover that the disaster wasn’t caused by a malfunction, but was done intentionally. It’s a race against the clock to uncover the only person who holds the key to stop the storm. Feel the fear with the visual clarity and the superior surround sound that makes IMAX the most immersive experience cinema can deliver and feel Mother Nature’s wrath. You will be so enthralled by the Geostorm that can wipe out everything and everyone, you will want to call your loved ones to check if they are safe.

THE SNOWMAN
The crime thriller, The Snowman, follows Harry Hole (Michael Fassbender), the leader of an elite crime squad. While investigating the disappearance of a victim on the first snow of winter, Harry fears that a serial killer, nicknamed “The Snowman” may be at work again. With the help of a brilliant recruit, Katrine Bratt (Rebecca Ferguson), Harry must connect old cold cases to the brutal new one, if he hopes to catch the terrifying evil before the next snowfall. Jo Nesbø (the writer of the book this film is based on) has a small cameo in the film. This thriller is terrifying and satisfying all at the same time. You won’t be able to take your eyes off the screen as the crime fighters face their fears.
The Snowman will show at selected Ster-Kinekor sites on 13 October.

THOR RAGNARÖK
The film is a story of Thor, a superhero based on the Marvel Comics character.
Thor: Ragnarök is intended to be the sequel to 2011’s Thor and 2013’s Thor: The Dark World. Thor, the crown prince of Asgard (based on the Norse mythological deity of the same name) is being held captive on the planet Sakaar, on the other side of the universe from Asgard, without his hammer, Mjolnir. Thor must defeat the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) his former ally and fellow Avenger in a gladiatorial duel in time to save Asgard from the Goddess of Death, Hela (Cate Blanchett) and the impending Ragnarök, which is doom of all Asgardian civilisation. Thor’s quest for survival leads him to a race against time to prevent the all-powerful Hela from destroying his home world.
