5FM MANDELA DAY SQUAD ACTIVATED: LET’S FEED THE FUTURE
5FM is gearing up to bring a major youth punch to Rise Against Hunger Africa’s Mandela Month campaign on 17 July 2026, as the station heads to the Sandton Convention Centre for a full‑day meal‑packing takeover, specifically aimed at helping kids in Early Childhood Development (ECD).
As part of the national Feed the Future – 3 Million Meals in 31 Days movement, 5FM will broadcast live from 09:00 – 18:00, with the station’s on‑air fam, Youngblood 5 (YB 5) contributors, celebs and 5 Nation friends of the station jumping in to help pack thousands of meals for vulnerable children across South Africa.
This year’s activation builds on last year’s incredible achievement, where 2.9 million meals were packed in July 2025, including 1.4 million meals on Mandela Day alone – a milestone 5FM is ready to help push even higher in 2026. The station’s personalities will be on the ground, sleeves rolled up, bringing hype, heart and hands‑on support to Rise Against Hunger Africa’s mission to fight food insecurity and uplift early childhood development centres nationwide… and we’ll be bringing the VIBE with 5FM’s Friday shows – 5 Mid Mornings, 5 Lunch and 5 Drive – broadcasting live from location.

Earlier this month, sister station Good Hope FM kicked off Mandela Month at GrandWest Casino on 7 July, where over 700 volunteers packed 129,600 meals for vulnerable children. Good Hope FM will continue its Mandela Month involvement on 17 July at Morgenhof Wine Estate, also joining Rise Against Hunger Africa’s mission to pack 3 million meals in 31 days.
