Good-Hope-FM---Mandela-Day
The meals packed will provide daily nutrition to approximately 563 children attending Early Childhood Development

Good Hope FM proudly joined Rise Against Hunger Africa’s Mandela Month activation at GrandWest Casino on 7 July 2026, where more than 700 volunteers came together to pack an extraordinary 129,600 nutritious meals for vulnerable children across the Western Cape.

The meals packed will provide daily nutrition to approximately 563 children attending Early Childhood Development (ECD) Centres throughout the academic year, supporting both food security and quality early childhood education.

As part of the station’s birthday month and ongoing commitment to community upliftment, Good Hope FM’s Morning Show with Leigh‑Anne Williams broadcast live from the venue, bringing listeners into the heart of the action. The Good Hope FM team also joined the packing line from 11:00 – 12:00, adding more than just their voices, rolling up their sleeves and making a practical difference.

Good Hope FM personalities in attendance included Leigh‑Anne Williams, Garth B, Michaela Muller and more.

Their presence and vibe helped energise volunteers and amplify the spirit of Mandela Month across the Mother City.

This activation formed part of Rise Against Hunger Africa’s national campaign: Feed the Future – Pack 3 Million Meals in 31 Days, mobilising corporate partners, schools and community groups throughout July to help ensure thousands of children receive the nutrition they need during the most critical years of development.

Masi Mdingane, Business Manager for Good Hope FM and 5FM, said, “Mandela Month always reminds us that radio is more than entertainment, it’s a community force. Good Hope FM showed up with passion, energy and purpose, and we’re proud of the impact made alongside Rise Against Hunger Africa. This is what it means to serve the people we broadcast to.”

Mandela Month continues, and Good Hope FM will once again stand alongside Rise Against Hunger Africa at the next large‑scale meal‑packing event on 17 July 2026 at Morgenhof Wine Estate, Stellenbosch

This activation offers another opportunity for teams, partners and volunteers to honour Mandela’s legacy through meaningful service, and to help Rise Against Hunger Africa reach its powerful goal of packing 3 million meals during July.

Sister station 5FM will also be packing meals on 17 July at the Sandton Convention Centre, broadcasting live from 09:00 – 18:00 and joining volunteers in packing thousands of meals for vulnerable children. 5FM personalities, YB 5 contributors, celebs and friends of the station will be on site, adding momentum to the national campaign and building on last year’s remarkable achievements.

Good Hope FM encourages organisations and community groups to get involved and be a practical part of a movement creating lasting impact for vulnerable children across South Africa.
