Series three set to return to BBC Lifestyle, DStv channel 174,
this October
BBC Worldwide announced today that its latest series of The Great South African Bake Off will be supported by Huletts as an associate sponsor and Snowflake as product sponsor when the series returns to BBC Lifestyle, DStv channel 174, this October.
Filming for the ten-part series will commence this month in Johannesburg. The hit baking format is back for a third series and promises to entertain and inspire, thanks to its delicious mixture of fun and competition. The new lineup of amateur bakers will go all out to impress the judges, hoping to rise up and become the next ultimate star baker.
Joel Churcher, General Manager and Vice President, BBC Worldwide Africa said on the partnerships, “It is an absolute pleasure to bringing on board both Huletts and Snowflake to help us to produce what has now become one of our most successful programmes on the BBC Lifestyle channel. As a business we are committed to bringing our audiences here in South Africa the perfect mixture of premium British programmes as well as producing stellar local productions like The Great South African Bake Off, so are always looking for the support of local businesses to help us with this ambition. I am very excited to see what series three will have to offer, but from what I know so far, it is set to see even more showstopper baking than before.”
Huletts Marketing said, “We are huge fans of The Great South African Bake Off and always try to encourage people to get creative in the kitchen as good food is such an important part of South African culture. We are very excited to help support series three as an associate sponsor, and will of course be tuning in, in October, to see how the new line up fare in the now infamous Bake Off tent.”
Darlene Smith from Snowflake said, “ We are the flour experts when it comes to baking thus making us the perfect partner to support series three of The Great South African Bake Off. We can’t wait to see what the new series has in store and wish the new bakers the very best of luck.”
Series three also sees the return of product sponsor Gorenjé Appliances distributed by Afrishield, who have helped to support both S1 and S2 with supplying key appliances used within the programme.
The Great South African Bake Off has been a ratings smash for BBC Lifestyle. During series two the show pulled in over 2 million viewers and was the number one channel in its competitor set on DStv’s platform.
The Great South African Bake Off demonstrates BBC Worldwide’s ongoing commitment to providing high quality local programming. The Love Productions format will again be produced by Rapid Blue, with filming starting this month. Together, Rapid Blue and BBC Worldwide will also be producing a second local commission this year with the hugely anticipated return of Come Diner With Me South Africa for a fourth series.
The Love Productions format has been licensed to 25 countries around the world including France, Czech Republic, Brazil, Australia and Denmark.
