Albany Bakeries Team Up With DJ Zinhle To Make A Thousand Sandwiches for International Mandela Day.
Sarmies for Smiles is the first event of its kind for Albany, and was born out of the desire to get hands-on in making a difference. While Albany is known for their donation of one million loaves to various causes, this event aims to bring the Albany community together for an interactive day of sandwich making and smiles.
In honour of Mandela Month, the Albany team, together with the brand ambassador DJ Zinhle, have pledged to make one thousand sandwiches for one of the Tiger Brands Group CSI beneficiaries, the African Children’s Feeding Scheme. Since the square root of a million is a thousand, we’re squaring up 1000 sandwiches with the help of DJ Zinhle and our fans to the beautiful children of the African Children’s Feeding Scheme in Soweto.

The event will be hosted this month in the Maboneng precinct in Johannesburg, attended by the Albany Team, the brand ambassador DJ Zinhle, variety of media representative, as well as the consumers selected by DJ Zinhle and the brand. Attendees will have an opportunity to get hands-on with the preparation of the sandwiches in the morning. The team will later visit the African Children’s Feeding Scheme premises in Soweto, to hand deliver the sandwiches to the children.
Team Albany are very excited about the launch of project Sarmies for Smiles initiative and to be celebrating Mandela Month with this special occasion.
