BBC Worldwide has announced the appointment of Sarah-Jane Harling in the newly created role of Advertising Account Director, Africa.
She will be responsible for all advertising matters for the region and will report directly into Joel Churcher, General Manager and Vice President for BBC Worldwide, Africa.
Advertising on BBC World News and BBC.COM remains with BBC Advertising, Global News Ltd.’s internal media sales house.
Sarah-Jane joins BBC Worldwide from DStv Media Sales where she was Manager of the International Channels. She began her career at M-Net in 1996, moving to DStv in 1998.
On Sarah-Jane’s appointment, Joel Churcher said, “As our branded services rely more and more on advertising revenue to deliver profit and fund local productions, our ad sales expertise needs to grow. I’m delighted to have someone of Sarah-Jane’s calibre on the team in Johannesburg as we look to grow our advertising business and implement some very exciting changes.”
Sarah-Jane has 19 years of extensive experience in Marketing, Research, Pricing, Planning, Strategy, Sales, Content Management, Business Reporting and Analysis and Channel Management.
On her new role at BBC Worldwide she added, “Having worked alongside the BBC Worldwide Africa team over the years, it is great to be able to help further promote our portfolio of channels to advertising partners across the Continent. I’m really looking forward to working with everyone to ensure our advertising offering goes from strength to strength.”
