The 2017 AMASA Awards winners announced

This year’s glamorous AMASA awards ceremony held at The Hilton in Sandton on Thursday evening, 12th of October, was attended by some of the industries top media and advertising members to celebrate the best in media innovation from 2016-2017. Now in its fourth year, the awards celebrate innovative ‘all round’ media campaigns in the media and advertising industry.

With a total of 127 candidates entered into this years awards Wayne Bishop, the AMASA Chairmen, said the standard and quality of entries were some of the best the awards and judging committee has ever seen, making all selections and identifying the overall Roger Garlick Grand Prix incredibly challenging but inspiring at the same time.

The renowned Roger Garlick Grand Prix Award went to Halo advertising for their outstanding work on their Jacaranda FM, #MoreMusicYouLove campaign. ‘This years winner checked all three of the most important boxes; innovation, strategy and execution, we’re so incredibly impressed with their imaginative and forward thinking strategy’ says Wayne Bishop, head of the AMASA Awards portfolio.

About AMASA

The Advertising Media Association of Southern Africa (AMASA), is a registered Section 21 company, and since its inception as a professional body in 1971, has been at the forefront of media education and training in South Africa. Over the past 43 years, the association has evolved from the informal monthly gatherings of the 70’s to the organised structure it is proud of today. The core aim of AMASA is to focus on the education levels of those with an interest in the media, marketing and advertising industry, with a view to improving knowledge and skills in media decision making techniques and their use. Other key educational facets include partnerships with tertiary institutes such as AAA and Red & Yellow, The AMASA textbook, AMASA seminars and talks as well as various essential fundraising activities. AMASA also celebrates great work within the industry via hosting the AMASA Awards to reward those in the industry who raise the bar. AMASA has two divisions, a Johannesburg and Cape Town Chapter, each team steering the organistion in the relevant city to the local membership and industry. The Cape Town chapter runs the coastal arm of the organization in the Mother City focusing on growing and knowledge sharing amongst the agencies and media owner in this region.
