To help people stay connected with their communities and find new experiences around them, Facebook is launching Find Wi-Fi everywhere in the world on iOS and Android. This follows a low-key launch of the feature in a few countries (including South Africa) late last year.
Find Wi-Fi helps you locate open Wi-Fi hot spots near you when you need them most. Whether you live somewhere or are travelling to a place where your data connection is weak, you can now map the closest connections to you. Rather than spending your precious cellular data, you can locate the nearest hotspot and save money.
To find open wi-fi hotspots using your Facebook app, click on the “More” tab, then “Find Wi-Fi.” Once in the “Find Wi-Fi” tab, you may need to turn it on, and then you can browse the closest open hotspots on a map, and learn more about the businesses hosting them.
If you own a business, you can easily be included in Find Wi-Fi for people around your business so that you can attract customers. Claim your Wi-Fi network by navigating to “Edit Page Info” on your business’ page.
